My earliest memory was aged three planting Crocus bulbs in the garden with my mother.
From this early age I have always had a passion for plants and horticulture.
During my late teens I completed my City and Guilds in Ornamental Horticulture and then went on to complete a National Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture at Cannington College in Somerset. During my placement year I worked with a commercial nursery as an Assistant Manger of the Propagation Department. I was fascinated with how easy it was to propagate plants. I excelled at this and truly have a passion for growing plants from scratch.
I stayed in this commercial setting for three years until I decided to continue my horticulture education. I was very happy to be accepted onto the elite and specialized degree in Horticulture at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. After graduating I secured a placement at the Botanic Garden in Gothenburg, Sweden, working under Henrik Zetterlund, at that time the world leading authority on Alpines.
On returning to the UK I returned to my previous employers in the commercial sector and helped them to set up a new company selling Alpines direct to the public through the medium of shows such as the Chelsea Flower Show. I remained in this area for five years after which I continued working for a range of nurseries across the country.
I continued my career and began working in Garden Centres, where I really enjoyed interacting directly with the public, educating them and passing on my knowledge and passion for growing plants and using them to create beautiful garden spaces.
After several years I decided to become a full-time self-employed professional gardener, I have run a successful business for over twenty years.
My passion now is to work with my growing client-base, helping them to create their own beautiful and exciting garden spaces. I love to share my creative ideas and wealth of knowledge to help them get the very best from their own gardens.
